Why we love them:

We handle our fair share of vintage marble furniture at ebtd. But we don’t recall too many stone tables that looked like these.

We’re vibing on the shield shape and the colours—grey and orange always looked good together and this is nature’s proof.

We also appreciate the fact that they have a slightly more compact footprint than their square equivalents. People in modest accommodation need not look away.

Why we love it

If ever there was a one-seater sofa then this is it. No joke. You could easily lie across this if you were so inclined. It feels a little bit like being a very young child and sitting in a fully grown person’s chair. And we mean all of that in a good way.

The feet on this vintage armchair are worth a mention, too. By raising the bulk of the piece of the floor on a skinny frame, it stops it dominating the space into which it’s placed. It’s a neat trick.

This is a full leather arrangement. Know that there are sings of wear on the seat but there are no tears. Many would describe it as a rich patina but that’s a call we’ll allow you to make.

Why we love them: 

Travertine furniture doesn’t get as much love as marble furniture. But spend some time with it and you’ll grow to appreciate its subtleties.

Travertine is packed with organic qualities. Regardless of whether these nesting tables are arranged as a cluster or spread throughout the room, you’ll have a stone table set that is uniform and different all at once — if that’s even possible.

Hardwearing, striking and more affordable than marble, these vintage travertine nested tables will make someone very happy.

Why we love it:

Looks great, feels solid, works pretty much anywhere there’s enough space. Case closed.

We’ve always been a fan of leaf-shaped marble coffee tables. Between the curves, the dense veining and the legs, they give you plenty to look at. Helps also that marble furniture will last until the day you subject it to an obscene amount of force (please don’t smash it to pieces).

White marble tables reflect light back into the room so you needn't worry about this one becoming an oppressive presence in your home. We’ll leave that job to your boiler.

Why we love it:

If ever there was a vintage cloud sofa then this is it. We would quite happily climb into this every day and let it give us a nice, warm hug forever and ever, amen. 

This Italian sofa also has some neat design features (as indeed all retro Italian lounges do). The low-profile and compact footprint mean you can bring it into the middle of the room; an exposed, wire frame makes this couch unique. None of your friends have one of these.

We have taken it upon ourselves to reupholster this curvy sofa in a cream bouclé. New and on-trend, basically. You can tell those same friends you did it yourself. Secret is safe with us.

Why we love them:

Stackable chairs are good at the best of times. Castelli vintage Italian stacking chairs with cowhide seats are goodness+.

The shape the frames make when these retro dining chairs are stacked one on top of the other is weirdly satisfying. We also really like how the feet adjust to the floor so you’re never left rocking on uneven surfaces. And that's without mentioning how sturdy they are.

But, yeah: this is all about the cowhide. Be aware that each chair is unique.

Why we love them:

We’ve always had a thing for Rodney Kinsman furniture so there was no way we weren’t going to jump at these vintage Tokyo dining chairs.

These black metal chairs were originally designed for London’s Groucho club, which is, apparently, a big deal. We say apparently because we have never been and nor are we likely to go. Members only, right?

Put all that to one side and the fact remains: these are brilliant. The balance between straight lines and curves gives us life and the newly reupholstered, bouclé seats (our intervention) means these lightweight, retro dining chairs are as relevant now as they ever were.
