Why we love them

We’ll admit it. These vintage black stacking chairs have a certain arachnid quality. But we’ll also admit that we don’t know why that detracts from the appeal.

If you’re in the market for some unique, sturdy, stackable chairs then you could do a lot worse. If you’re into that end-of-century look then we doubt you’ll do much better.

There’s not much more to add except maybe for the fact that they look as good stacked as they do individually. Something to bear in mind if you plan on keeping them to one side when not in use.

Why We Love it 

We’re not really into mentioning other brands on this site but this original T-Line chair is giving us the strongest United Colours of Benetton vibe (circa 1997). We sound surprised but we shouldn’t be — we chose to re-upholster it that way.

And we’re pretty pleased with how this bright green armchair turned out. We don’t imagine this is the sort of thing you’ll see often. Might be wrong but it feels unique to us.

The best bit? The T-Line lounge chair is actually super comfortable. A suspended seat means this is a place you could rest and/or work for hours at a time. All things considered… well, it’s just a cool chair.

This vintage armchair was created by two of the biggest names in twentieth century furniture.

Designed by Vico Magistretti for Cassina in the 1970’s, the Maralunga chair encapsulates the design philosophy of the era. Its bulbous proportions and sculptural forms also mean it is as relevant now as it was when it was produced.

This retro lounge chair is equipped with an adjustable backrest to provide support for your head and neck. It has been reupholstered in pink bouclé and is now in excellent vintage condition.

The shape means this a suspended gig and that creates a feeling of weightlessness. You can gently bounce or rock until your heart’s content. Seriously, though. It's so good it's worth a weekend trip to Walthamstow.

All original upholstery. It’s never going to qualify as ‘like new’ but if you’re not precious this is a winner.

Why We Love it 

Chunky, sturdy and thoroughly reliable. Meet my dad. Joking, my dad isn't four chairs. 

We love the proportions of this dining chair set. A thick, turned frame and tapered legs, they really do look great with their bright green seats. 

The Chairs have a few marks and some signs of wear, but remain in a good vintage condition. Now that's more like the old man.

Why we love it

We were surprised to learn that this is a 60's armchair. Eugenio must have been ahead of his time because this is presenting us with all the curves we love from the vintage Italian furniture of a decade or two later.

There is no point in trying to describe this shape to you because we don’t think there is a word. But it sure is shapely and we’re vibing on it. A sprung seat means it’s not all style over substance either.

It currently features the existing upholstery. This is because we think it's amazing and we expect it would have cost a pretty penny. However, you have the option to make it new.

And in case you need to know, it sits on castors. Not sure why you would need to but we’re not here to get into that.

We don't know loads about this beautiful pair of Finnish armchairs. But we know they are upholstered in Raf Simonds, Kvadrat fabric and feature a beautiful arrangement of push-popper cushions. All wrapped around a tubular steel frame.

You haven’t seen too many armchairs that behave like this one.

The seat back of this vintage Italian armchair unfurls to create a neat headrest (and an entirely unique look) that we expect you — everyone — will love. We certainly do.

But the basics are there, too. The upholstery is new (and very cool), the seat wide and the cushioning comfortable. Looks as good as it feels, basically.

If you’re into late twentieth century furniture, we have a feeling you’ll be into this.
