We love the proportions of this dining chair set. A thick, turned frame and tapered legs, they really do look great with their bright green seats. 

The Chairs have a few marks and some signs of wear, but remain in a good vintage condition. Now that's more like the old man.

But the basics are there, too. The upholstery is new (and very cool), the seat wide and the cushioning comfortable. Looks as good as it feels, basically.

Why we love it:

If ever there was a vintage cloud sofa then this is it. We would quite happily climb into this every day and let it give us a nice, warm hug forever and ever, amen. 

This Italian sofa also has some neat design features (as indeed all retro Italian lounges do). The low-profile and compact footprint mean you can bring it into the middle of the room; an exposed, wire frame makes this couch unique. None of your friends have one of these.

This curvy sofa comes in its original, brown velvet which offers the perfect contrast to the chrome details. It may have been a few years ago, but they knew they were doing. Theres a couple of marks to the upholstery, but they are minor and do not detract from its knock out design.

We can’t be certain, but we have a feeling this vintage sofa was in Scarface. Okay, so we don’t actually have that feeling but we can picture it. This B&B Italia lounge presents 80’s excess but in a way that is very current.

The Baisity couch also boasts some unique design features. For example, the front is raised on castors, the back is lower than the front and it has floating arms at either end. All in all, it’s a strong look.

If you didn’t know, B&B Italia are a big deal in the design world. We know they made it because their logo is all over it. Nothing is a guarantee of quality but this comes close.

The sofa has been re-upholstered in a chunky check, but we've left the arms in the original leather and the floating B&B cushions to match.

We were surprised to learn that this is a 60's armchair. Eugenio must have been ahead of his time because this is presenting us with all the curves we love from the vintage Italian furniture of a decade or two later.

There is no point in trying to describe this shape to you because we don’t think there is a word. But it sure is shapely and we’re vibing on it. A sprung seat means it’s not all style over substance either.

It features brand spanking new upholstery in a flat, tan velvet. 

And in case you need to know, it sits on castors. Not sure why you would need to but we’re not here to get into that.

It is rare that you find vintage Italian furniture that has been so well looked after you are left wondering whether you have misunderstood the Belgian guy who decided to part ways with it.

But that’s where we are with this leather Maralunga sofa. If we didn’t know any better, we’d say this Cassina lounge was new.

If you frequent this corner of the internet regularly, you’ll know how much we love Magistretti and Cassina, but this design is a particular favourite. The seat back can be unfolded to create a headrest — and a totally unique sofa.

Well worth a look.

You can make your own mind up about the look of this 80's armchair (we wouldn’t have sourced it if we didn’t think it was special). 

What you won’t be able to ascertain from the internet is just how comfortable it is. Let us be clear about that: most enjoyable seating arrangement of all time.

The shape means this a suspended gig and that creates a feeling of weightlessness. You can gently bounce or rock until your heart’s content. Seriously, though. It's so good it's worth a weekend trip to Walthamstow.

All original upholstery. It’s never going to qualify as ‘like new’ but if you’re not precious this is a winner.

Why we love it

There is very little point asking us how we feel about the Maralunga because we will always source one when we can.

This vintage Italian sofa is an example of what happens when a designer and a maker who were prepared to take a risk combine to make something different. And we’d argue it paid off.

Each seat back can be unfolded to provide more support for your neck or just to create a really cool sculptural look. You probably know we’re all about that.

We’ve reupholstered this vintage Cassina lounge in caramel velvet, which we feel is both true to the era it dates from and current. We do think about things, promise.

Why we love it

If ever there was a one-seater sofa then this is it. No joke. You could easily lie across this if you were so inclined. It feels a little bit like being a very young child and sitting in a fully grown person’s chair. And we mean all of that in a good way.

The feet on this vintage armchair are worth a mention, too. By raising the bulk of the piece of the floor on a skinny frame, it stops it dominating the space into which it’s placed. It’s a neat trick.

This is a full leather arrangement. Know that there are sings of wear on the seat but there are no tears. Many would describe it as a rich patina but that’s a call we’ll allow you to make.

Why we love them

We’ll admit it. These vintage black stacking chairs have a certain arachnid quality. But we’ll also admit that we don’t know why that detracts from the appeal.

If you’re in the market for some unique, sturdy, stackable chairs then you could do a lot worse. If you’re into that end-of-century look then we doubt you’ll do much better.

There’s not much more to add except maybe for the fact that they look as good stacked as they do individually. Something to bear in mind if you plan on keeping them to one side when not in use.

Why We Love it 

We’re not really into mentioning other brands on this site but this original T-Line chair is giving us the strongest United Colours of Benetton vibe (circa 1997). We sound surprised but we shouldn’t be — we chose to re-upholster it that way.

And we’re pretty pleased with how this bright green armchair turned out. We don’t imagine this is the sort of thing you’ll see often. Might be wrong but it feels unique to us.

The best bit? The T-Line lounge chair is actually super comfortable. A suspended seat means this is a place you could rest and/or work for hours at a time. All things considered… well, it’s just a cool chair.

Why we love them:

Stackable chairs are good at the best of times. Castelli vintage Italian stacking chairs with cowhide seats are goodness+.

The shape the frames make when these retro dining chairs are stacked one on top of the other is weirdly satisfying. We also really like how the feet adjust to the floor so you’re never left rocking on uneven surfaces. And that's without mentioning how sturdy they are.

But, yeah: this is all about the cowhide. Be aware that each chair is unique.

Why we love them:

We’ve always had a thing for Rodney Kinsman furniture so there was no way we weren’t going to jump at these vintage Tokyo dining chairs.

These black metal chairs were originally designed for London’s Groucho club, which is, apparently, a big deal. We say apparently because we have never been and nor are we likely to go. Members only, right?

Put all that to one side and the fact remains: these are brilliant. The balance between straight lines and curves gives us life and the newly reupholstered, bouclé seats (our intervention) means these lightweight, retro dining chairs are as relevant now as they ever were.
