Shopping for Vintage Furniture Online

If you ever asked us where to buy vintage furniture online, our answer would always be the same.

Right here.

(True, we deal almost exclusively in mid century modern and Scandinavian furniture but they still fall under the heading of ‘vintage’).

We go to considerable lengths to provide the best online service we can.

However, the reality is that we won’t always be able to offer you what you want or need.

Since that's the only reason we exist, we’re happy to point you in the direction of a few online resources that may be able to help when we can’t.

We are also happy to do this because we want you to be able to see for yourself that our pricing is as fair as we can make it.

So, without further ado, here are our top three online vintage furniture retailers:

1st Dibs vintage furniture

1st Dibs

The title of most comprehensive online vintage furniture store belongs to 1st Dibs.

This may come as no surprise given this American behemoth has been on the scene longer than anyone else on this list.

1st Dibs has partnered with thousands of independent retailers around the world to be able to offer such an extensive range.

You’ll be able to find almost anything on here. They really do cater for the most niche of searches.

Just don’t log on expecting to find a bargain.

In our experience, 1st Dibs tends to be the most expensive option from this list and this is likely to have something to do with the charges involved in selling through this platform.

However, we also get the impression that you’d be well looked after in the event of any issues or confusion.

Shipping costs also tend to be on the high side but we’d be confident that this side of the transaction would be handled well.

All things considered, this is a great option if money is no obstacle.

Vintage furniture from Pamono

Pamono

We might be slightly biased on this one (we partner with Pamono) but we only have good things to say about them.

Their collection is, like 1st Dibs’, extensive.

From their Berlin base, they have been able to build an extensive network the covers the majority of Europe.

We would also say that the prices are, in the main, reasonable. Again, this is likely down to the size of the fees involved in selling through this platform.

Shipping is also reasonable and, speaking from experience, well handled by their longstanding partners.

Pamono is also really good at providing information on the designers and manufacturers.

We expect that customers who are new to the vintage market will find this helpful.

As with 1st Dibs, there’s much more than vintage furniture for sale so be prepared to fall down the click-hole.

Well worth a visit.

Vintage furniture from Vinterior

Vinterior

London-based Vinterior has built a strong market presence since launching in 2016.

In fact, they estimate that they now offer over 50,000 vintage pieces from over 1,000 dealers (of which we are one).

That’s an impressive haul in such a short period of time.

Prices are usually reasonable on Vinterior (as with all the platforms on this list, the prices are set by the dealer).

Shipping is handled exclusively by the dealer so there is perhaps less of a guarantee than with the other options but this is not to say you should expect any problems.

There’s also less editorial content on here but if you know what you’re looking for this won’t be an obstacle.

Newcomers, however, may find the other options on this list to be more informative.

If you’re in the UK, though, and would prefer to shop with UK-based retailers (with currency exchanges as they are we don't blame you), then Vinterior is your best bet.
